Prof’s debate

I found it interesting that on the same day my latest piece inBusinessDay was published, Asukwo’s cartoon also came out. I find it tragic that it is about a man I respect, Prof Osinbajo.

Unlike his boss, Osinbajo has a towering intellect. You can have a discussion with him for hours, and leave very fulfilled.

I have my reservations about the role he has played in the Buhari government, but I’ve always given him the benefit of the doubt. A bit different from my bro Ose who stans the man shamelessly.

But on this one, I can’t give Prof a pass. I think he yabbed on his suggestion of a debate to reduce the cost of governance.

Considering that he is number 2 in a government that has shown so much profligacy, and is clearly uninterested in reducing the cost of governance, it would have been better if Prof had held his peace.

Has any of you noticed that since the price of oil hit the $40 mark we have stopped hearing noises from government types about implementing the Oronsaye Report and cutting down waste?
